This is a first edition set from 1954-1956. This is the American Edition that came out about the same time as the UK set. Printed in UK, bound in US.
The Fellowship of the Ring is a third impression. When Houghton Mifflin ordered more pages from Allen and Unwin, their second impressions had run out. Consequently, there never was a U.S. second impression. The dust jacket’s price is clipped.
The Two Towers is really special. It is MINT! The “r” in Towers has a nick in on the right side of it. The dust jacket’s price is clipped. This is a second impression.
The Return of the King was written in 1956, and is a 1st impression, 1st printing dust jacket. The dust jacket’s price is clipped.
Blue cloth, title on front and spines in gold lettering.
Book pages are tight and clean, no writing.
Dust jackets are perfect, protected by removable plastic covers.
